Cybernetics

Flavour text goes here. (Advanced fibre optics)
Note: Prices here are based on Kemet physiology. Non-Kemet races incur a 1 step cost increase for all cybernetics. Certain exotic races may incur an increased cost beyond that.

Basic neural interface - Required for neural connection to most kemet technology. Contains 2 subroutine threads that can only be used for intellect based skills. Kemet default gear. Need at least a basic neural interface to use cybernetic limbs that devaite from your race's standard physiology.
Optical Overlay - Required for many subroutines to provide assed based bonuses, and allows for visual recording. Kemet default gear.

Limbs come in two varieties, and two different levels of quality:

  • Enhanced Limbs are simply cybernetically enhanced versions of your race's standard physiology. These provide a +1 bonus per limb to rolls involving those limbs, or a +2 bonus if the task only requires one limb. The advanced quality version of these limbs increases the bonus to +2. A single enhanced limb is an inexpensive item. An advanced quality enhanced limb is a moderate item.
  • Stronk Limbs are bulky, hyper exaggerated versions of your race's standard physiology. These limbs provide a full asset per limb, or 2 assets for single limbed tasks. The advanced quality version of these limbs provides 1 might edge for each advanced limb involved. Both versions of this limb variant increase the cost of applying effort to speed related tasks, similar to how armor does. This penalty is equal to half the number of limbs you have replaced, rounded up. Limbs beyond your race's standard physiology instead increase this penalty by 1 for each addtional limb. A single stronk limb is a moderate item. An advanced quality stronk limb is an expensive item.

Subroutines are mental processes installed and run on neural interfaces. These subroutines can be used in two different ways. By running a subroutine in two processing threads a character can be treated as being trained in a skill. This benefit does not stack with existing training or specialization. Alternatively, if run in a single processing thread, the subroutine can be used to optimize use of the user's body, providing a +1 bonus to tasks involving that subroutine. Some subroutines may require an optical overlay to grant these benefits. For example, piloting subroutines may display a visual glideslope for the user to provide an optimal flight path while navigating an asteroid field or to avoid incoming fire in a dogfight. This bonus increases to +2 if the user has an advanced neural interface. These benefits can be combined to allow an untrained user to recieve a training benefit, as well as a +1 bonus if three processing threads are used.

Subroutines are inexpensive items, however some subroutines may be more expensive depending on complexity, or availability, perhaps even requiring purchase on the black market.

Neural Interface, Standard: This upgraded neural interface contains 6 processing threads, and allows the used of speed and might based subroutines, due to not being limited in processing speed. Moderate cost.
Neural Interface, Advanced: This advanced neural interface contains a whopping 10 processing threads, and increases the bonus from using subroutines as assets from +1 to +2. Expensive cost.
Subdermal/cybernetic plating: This body/cybernetic enhancement provides +1 Armor. Moderate cost.
Enhanced Optics: Advanced visual enhancements, these provide a number of benefits, including enhanced visual clarity and zoom, nightvision, and various electromagnetic spectrum sensors ranging from low frequency radio to high frequency gamma. In general these provide an asset or two to vision based tasks. Comes built in with optical overlay. Inexpensive cost.
Enhanced Hearing: Advanced hearing enhancements allow the user to hear sound frequencies and intensities far beyond normal ranges, as well as allow for audio recording. Filtering noise (for example trying to listen in on a specific conversation in a crowded tavern) can be done on a recording using the computers skill, but on the fly filtering requires at least a standard processor running an audio fitering subroutine. Inexpensive cost.
Wireless Omnijack: This all-purpose interface jack allows a neural interface to be connected wirelessly to almost any kind of technology at up to ??? range. Inexpensive cost.
Cybernetic skin graft: These skin grafts allow an enhanced limb to appear lifelike and seamless with a user's normal body, making it very difficult to identify cybernetic limbs visually. A single graft is sufficient to cover all cybernetics attached to a user. Inexpensive cost.
Digital Gyroscopic Positional Awareness: This enhancement allows detailed positional awareness of cybernetic limbs, allowing the user to “see” their limbs using their visual overlay even when visually impaired. Can be combined with positional mapping subroutines to create a visual image of the user's surroundings from nothing more than physical contact with cybernetic limbs. Moderate cost.
Psi Generator: This advanced piece of Kemet technology allows a user to harness their latent psi energy to power personal devices. Powering particularly energy-intensive devices may result in a psychic backlash. The GM sets a difficulty for task of powering the device. Failure to succeed on the task means the device is not powered, however, at the player's option, he may instead choose to take 1 point of intellect damage per failed task level, and still manage to power the device. This decision must be made before the roll. Because of this, intellect armor effectively reduces the task of powering devices with a psi generator by 1 step per point. While focusing on powering a device the user has an inability on all other tasks requiring concentration unless the user succeeds on the task by at least 1 step. The Psi Generator also comes equipped with a small capacitor to store charge for low skilled psychics, allowing them to store charge over a long period to expend.
