Story:

Fal grew up in a small fishing town by the sea where his father, Dian Stormwind, and he made a simple living day by day catching fish and shellfish. The young Fal did not mind this way of life. They had a small house and struggled to make ends meet, but all in all they were happy. However, this happiness was not to last. By the time Fal was around 16 years old his father along with many other residents suddenly fell seriously ill.

At first the illness was not so bad and hardly anyone paid attention to it. However, quickly more and more people became infected and what’s more is that the earlier victims, such as Fal’s father became so ill that they could not even raise themselves up out of bed. It was at this time that his father called Fal to talk to him. Over the duration of his father’s illness Fal hadn’t been able to catch enough fish to sustain themselves and had just recently sold their rowboat for more money. Dian Stormwind looked at his son’s thin, malnourished frame and couldn’t help but frown. He knew that his son had done all he could for him and even a little bit more. “Fal, you have never asked about your mother, and I never intended to tell you. Now though, with this disease I am not long for this world. You need to take care of yourself now. When your mother left she gave me something and said to give it to you if you ever ask how you can find her.” Raising a trembling hand Dian pointed towards a drawer next to his bed. Not knowing what was going on Fal quickly opened the drawer. Inside it was empty however, as his dying father continued to gesture Fal soon noticed the drawer had a false bottom to it. Quickly opening it, there was an old green-blue leather bound book along with a sealed letter. The letter was written in an unknown language. Opening the book it seemed that it too contained similar letters, but it also included their Common and Urat equivalent.

Looking up from the unknown book and letter Fal asked his father puzzled “What exact-” Dian Stormwind’s eyes were closed and his chest no longer rose and fell with the breath of life. Tears slowly fell from Fal’s eyes, these were both tears of bitter sadness and of joy. Bitter sadness due to the loss of his one and only father, but a tiny bit of joy as his father died wearing a smile despite suffering from a horrible plague. Selling off what he could Fal buried his father outside of town and then set off. He did not know if he wanted to find his mother who had abandoned them all those years ago or if he just wanted to start anew, but he knew that this plague ridden town was not a place to continue living.

Throughout the next 17 years Fal picked up many different skills and languages. He was even able to understand the language left behind by his mother and read the letter she left him. This was how Fal, the factotum, came to be.
