Weapon and Armour Proficiency: Hexblades are proficient with light and medium armour, light shields and bucklers, and all simple and martial weapons. A hexblade incurs no arcane spell failure when casting hexblade spells while wearing light or medium armor, or while wielding a light shield or buckler.

Hexblade's Curse (Su): At first level a hexblade gains the ability to impart a debilitating curse upon his enemies. As a swift action, the hexblade may use his curse against a visible opponent within 60 feet. The target must make a will save (DC 10 + 1/2 class level + charisma modifier) or suffer a –2 penalty on attacks, saves, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls for 1 hour. The hexblade may use this ability a number of times per day equal to 1/2 his class level + charisma modifier (minimum 1 from charisma). If a target successfully saves against this use of the hexblade's curse, the daily uses are not expended. Other uses of the hexblade's curse, as detailed below, are still expended even if the target succeeds on their save.

At 5th level, the hexblade may expend 2 uses of his hexblade's curse to instead affect a creature with the effects of bestow curse.

At 9th level, the hexblade may expend 3 uses of his hexblade's curse to instead affect a creature with the effects of feeblemind.

At 13th level, the hexblade may expend 4 uses of his hexblade's curse to instead affect a creature with the effects of greater bestow curse.

At 17th level, the hexblade may expend 5 uses of his hexblade's curse as an immediate action against a creature that has just died to trap it's soul as if by soul binding. The hexblade does not need to have an expensive material component on hand, instead the target's soul coalesces into the hexblade's hand (or the hexblade's charge's hand if the hexblade has no free hands) as a crystal containing the target's soul. This ability happens as the creature dies, and as such will foil even contingent spells put in place to return a creature to life upon their death, but not effects that would prevent the death from occuring in the first place.

Hexblade's Charge: At 1st level a hexblade gains a fallen powerful being as a charge, from which he either draws his powers, or once learned from. The rules on the hexblade's charge can be found here.

As an alternate class feature, the hexblade may instead choose a familiar as a sorcerer, and isntead gains spellcasting as his charge normally would.

Arcane Resistance (Su): At 2nd level the hexblade's connection to the arcane grants him a bonus to saving throws equal to his charisma modifier (minimum 1).

Mettle (Ex): At 3rd level and higher, a hexblade can resist magical and unusual attacks with great willpower or fortitude. If he makes a successful Will or Fortitude save against an attack that normally would have a lesser effect on a successful save (such as any spell with a saving throw entry of Will half or Fortitude partial), he instead completely negates the effect. An unconscious or sleeping hexblade does not gain the benefit of mettle.

Swift Casting (Su): At 4th level the hexblade gains the ability to cast a small selection of spells, drawn from the list of spells known by his charge. Once per day the hexblade may cast any spell that his charge can cast that normally has a standard action casting time as a swift action, resolving its effects as if the charge had cast the spell themselves, including consuming one of the charges available spell slots. If the charge has no remaining spells per day, the hexblade cannot use this ability. The hexblade gains another use of this ability at 8th, 11th, 14th and 18th level.

Bonus Feats: At 5th level, and every 5 levels therafter, the hexblade gains a bonus feat. This feat can be any fighter bonus feat, or any of the following feats: Mage Slayer, Pierce Magical Protection, Pierce Magical Concealment.

Forced Omens (Sp): At 6th level, a foreboding sense of doom travels with the hexblade, as candle lights flicker, fresh food turns green, or the air becomes stale. A hexblade adds prestidigitation to their charge's list of spells known. See the spell description on pg. 264 of the Player's Handbook. If a hexblade's charge already knows this spell, the charge may choose a different 1st level spell. As a bonus spell, prestidigitation cannot be traded for another 1st level spell. The hexblade may cast prestidigitation using his charge's spells per day.

At 8th level, a hexblade and his charge may cast prestidigitation as if augmented by the Silent Spell feat without using up a higher-level spell slot. At 11th level, a hexblade and his charge may cast prestidigitation as a spell-like ability, lacking both somatic and verbal components, but is still limited to their spell slots per day. At 14th level, a hexblade and his charge may cast prestidigitation a number of additional times per day equal to 3 + their Charisma modifier. At 18th level, a hexblade and his charge can cast prestidigitation at will. The prestidigitation spell disappears from their list of spells known at this level.

Greater Hexblade's Curse (Su): When a hexblade attains 7th level, the penalty on attacks, saves, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls incurred by a target of the hexblade's curse becomes -4 instead of -2.

Spell Reflection (Su): At 12th level a hexblade gains the ability to reflect a spell back upon it's caster. Once per day, when a hexblade successfully resists the effects of a spell through the use of his mettle ability, he can reflect the spell back on the caster as if by means of the spell reflection spell. The hexblade gains an additional use of this ability for every 4 levels beyond 12th.

Dire Hexblade's Curse (Su): When a hexblade attains 19th level, the penalty on attacks, saves, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls incurred by a target of the hexblade's curse becomes -6 instead of -4.
